      • Your income in the last financial year.
      • How long you have been running your projects (and the evidence you have for them).
      • How your social enterprise is incorporated (e.g. registered charity, limited-by-guarantee organisation).

      THE RISKS

      GRANT FUNDING CHALLENGES

We want to be upfront with you about the possible risks, and how we will offset them.

You may not get the grant on your first try! This may be for one of two reasons:

      1. There is something missing from your application. In this case, funders will be very clear about what they would like you to change in your application before you should reapply.
      2. There are too many applications in your area at the same time. This happens, but don’t get discouraged. Most funders let you reapply right away.

What we do is give you the necessary tips and tricks to ensure your application gets noticed as quickly as possible.

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about grants and funding for social enterprises in the UK.

What is the difference between grants and funding?

Grant funding is different from other types of funding because it is money given to deliver a particular social project agreed upon between your organisation and the funding body. It is also money that you do not need to pay back as long as you spend the funds as agreed.

      Who qualifies for grant money?

In regards to Social Grants, any organisation that is legally structured as a charity or social enterprise can qualify for a social grant.

      Are grants hard to get?

Yes & No. Yes, because unless the project you want to offer to the community falls within the remit of the funding organisation, you will struggle to get grant funding. No, because almost any social idea you have can be funded by someone, you just need to find the right funder.

Does a grant have to be repaid?

No, all grant funding is not required to be repaid, except in circumstances where the funds have been misappropriated.

How long does it take to get a grant?

The larger the funding, the longer it can take. On average, it takes between 3-9 months from submitting a funding application to get money in the bank.
